So far raising four chicks isn't too bad. It's been awhile since Ive had chickens, the last time I was still a girl I think I was 10 when my mom and dad had chickens. They raised RhodeIsland Reds and a few leghorns. Some Bantams with the leggins.. But my family and I are raising Dark Cornish Bantams One Rooster and his name is Cotton. Okay the chickens ( no longer baby chicks) are doing well and growing like weeds. We built a better chicken coop an 8x8 so theres lots of room for them. And we did build a roost for them. Their still getting use to it but I think they've figured it out. I also might have a friend who is interested in raising chickens. So I told him that there's nothing wrong with having backyard chickens and that alot of people are doing that now.. Anyway I was wrong about the silkies we are instead...
So sad yesterday lost one of our new arrivals I got six chicks sent to me all the way back east and one wasn't looking so hot so i gave her vitamins and mixed food with water for a minute it would help and that she would snap out of it but it didn't help at all. She passed away quietly in the afternoon it was so sad. I went to go check on her and she wasnt breathing so I thought no she has to be breathing but nothing I tried to wake her up nothing so I called in my hubby and he said yeah...
Didn't know that it would be so painful when trying to build a chicken coop. That chickenwire sure likes to bite back doesn't it??? Personally Id rather tend Roses then do that again. The first one my hubby and I did, we had limited resources and so it wasn't very big, and what wire we had was on our fences..
