I remember my grandmother's chickens. I loved going to collect eggs. Never even thought I would ever own a chicken...unil...I went to a neighbors home, and I heard peeping going on in her...kitchen! I asked, what is that noise? I think I hear birds cheeping. She simply explains that she went to the feed store and bought some pullets. What? Yes, we have chickens in the back yard. I looked at the babies..then went out and looked at her simple set up. I almost ran all the way home to tell my DH all about it! That's all she wrote. He built me a wonderful coop. A couple of yrs. later, I have a smaller coop and run, as a grow out pen, because...I learned that I could hatch my own babies! What?!? Love to hatch. Love to collect eggs from chickens that I hatched. Yep!
Me, hatch..chicken eggs? Never gets old to watch the miracle happen.
Silkies and EE's are my favorite to hatch. I buy the egg layers from the feed store.
Sometimes I like to hatch Heritage RIR's.
This is Bubba! Loved him. Had to place him after the collar didn't keep him from
crowing..often! I got some cute babies from him before he went to a nice big farm.
Only 4 and a half months old here!
I love the Easter Egger. The cute puffy cheeks..and pretty blue/green eggs.
I love love the leghorn. All of mine have been very sweet, and friendly! And oh boy,
Our grandchildren love coming to see the chicks and chickens.
I've hatched many different breeds for fun, in the beginning..now I only hatch
a couple of different breeds for myself. This is Penny, a Speckled Sussex.
I could go on with photos. Love taking pictures of the birds. They are a remarkable bird. Most, I say most, are smarter than people give them credit for.
