Additional Information6.04.280 Running at Large ProhibitedMiscellaneous Animals. It is hereby declared to be a nuisance and no person shall suffer or permit any animals, and/or birds owned or controlled by such person, to run or fly at large. (Prior code § 4-32) 6.04.570 Noisy Animals. It is hereby declared to be a nuisance, and no person shall keep, maintain or permit upon any lot under such persons control, any animal or animals including any fowl or fowls, which by any sound, or cry, shall interfere with the comfortable peaceful use, possession and enjoyment of property by any person. (Prior code § 4-61) 6.04.590 Slaughter of Animals. No person shall, within this City, willfully slaughter or cause to be slaughtered any cattle, calf, horse, mule, sheep, swine or goat or any other animal. This section shall not apply to the slaughter of such animals within an educational institution, physicians office or laboratory for medical research or other scientific purposes, to the slaughter of such animals by a person licensed by the State of California to practice veterinary medicine or by any commercial establishment duly licensed by the City and the United States Department of Agriculture as a slaughterhouse. (Prior code § 4-63) 17.20.030 Agricultural Uses. The following agricultural or agricultural related uses are permitted only, and only in conjunction with the residential use of the parcel, subject to compliance with all Code requirements. B. Animals. The breeding, hatching, raising, and marketing of fish, frogs, earthworms, chickens, ducks, pigeons, guineas, chinchillas, rabbits, horses, cattle, sheep, and goats; subject to all of the following limitations: 1. The minimum lot area required to have any animals is ten thousand (10,000) square feet. For each five thousand (5,000) square feet of land area, one (1) animal or one (1) animal unit may be maintained on said parcel, with a maximum of six (6) animals or animal units on any one (1) parcel. An animal unit shall equal: a. Twenty-five (25) fish, frogs, chickens, ducks, pigeons, guineas, chinchillas, rabbits, or any combination thereof totaling twenty-five (25) or fewer of the afore-stated animals. b. One (1) horse, cow, sheep, or goat. 2. Fences and enclosures shall be located so that no animal will be permitted closer than thirty-five (35) feet from any residence or dwelling or any other building used for human habitation or to any portion of property used for public park or school purposes. 3. Roosters, and any animal not listed above, of any age shall not be kept in this district at any time. C. The sale of agricultural produce or animals shall be permitted only if produced or raised on the parcel. (Prior code § 19-4A.2(c))
