    Additional Information§ 95.001 KEEPING ANIMALS; REQUIRED AREA. All animals commonly referred to as “domesticated farm animals,” including horses, cow, mules, asses and other similar animals shall not be kept and maintained on any parcel of land of less than one acre. The tract where the animals are kept shall be fenced so as to prevent damage by the animals to personal property on adjacent tracts of land. No more than two domesticated farm animals shall be kept per acre of land, except that on any tract of land zoned A-1, agricultural-use district, a maximum of five domesticated farm animals may be kept per acre of land, provided, the premises are maintained in strict compliance with § 95.003 and provided the fence enclosing the tract is capable of preventing the escape of the animals and is maintained at all times. It shall be unlawful for any owner or other person to allow any animals, fowl or reptiles picketed, staked, herded or driven upon any of the streets, alleys or public grounds within the city. All stock must be led by halter, leash or rope while being taken to and from pasture. It shall be unlawful to allow or permit any animal, fowl or reptile to run at large or trespass on the property of another within the city. (Prior Code, § 4-102) (Am. Ord. 1415, passed 11-18-87) Penalty, see § 10.99 § 95.003 SANITATION; ENCLOSURES. All pens or enclosures where animals, fowl or reptile are kept and maintained shall be kept free of filth at all times. All manure shall be cleaned regularly from pens and kept in a manure pile that shall be removed at least twice a week. Each pen or enclosure shall be sprayed with a suitable residual spray as often as is necessary to control flies, insects, rodents and noxious odors. (Prior Code, § 4-103) (Am. It shall be unlawful and an offense for any person, firm or corporation to keep, maintain, harbor or feed rabbits, chickens or other fowls in a way that they may become an annoyance or nuisance to others and all hutches, pens or shelters and premises must be maintained and kept clean. (A) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to keep, maintain or feed swine, goats, emu or ostrich within the city.
