[FONT=book antiqua,palatino]Today the chicks arrived. All 25 of them. So, here they are: 7 Rhode Island Red, 6 Delaware, 5 Black Australorp, 3 Ameraucana, 2 Buff Orpington, and 2 Plymouth Barred Rock. They were hatched on 1-29-08, so here they are at 3 days old.

Four Weeks Old Now.
I found homes for 9, and have settled on keeping 16: 4 Rhode Island Red, 4 Delaware, 4 Black Australorp, 2 Ameraucana, 1 Buff Orpington, and 1 Plymouth Barred Rock.

Though not visible, there is a line of wire connecting the tops of all fence posts. There is no post-top perching available to hawks. Additionally, each post has baling wire connecting it to the apex of the hen house roof, again...to discourage hawks.
