My name is Bridget and I live on a farm in Middleburg, VA. I have 40 chickens right now, which include Sex-links, New Hampshire Reds, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Golden Wyandotte, Plymouth Rocks, Barred Rocks, Cuckoo Marans, Silver Spangled Hamburg, Sussex Partridge, Columbian Wyandatte, Auracanas, Polish Crested and a bunch of barnies. All my chickens free-range all day and are locked up in a horse stable at night. So far this plan has worked!
In the spring I started selling my hen's eggs out by the roadside, along with zinnias from my garden. It seemed to be a popular thing with the neighbors and passer-bys. In August, my DH built me a covered wagon that I could hook up to the lawnmower and drive my goods out to the road. Now we have exotic pumpkins and gourds, mums, my eggs, fresh apples, and I have painted some pumpkins as well. I also painted the side of my cart with a chicken themed design.
