    1 cup packed brown sugar
    1/4 cup white sugar
    1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
    1/2 cup shortening
    1 egg
    2 cups allpurpose flour
    1 tsp. Baking soda
    1/2 tsp. Baking powder
    1/4 tsp. Salt
    1 cup chocolate chips
    1 tsp. Vanilla extract
1 bag any brand square caramels

    Cooking Instructions

    Preheat oven 350 degrees.
Mix sugars, butter and shortening together
    Mix in egg and vanilla.
I usually sift flour but that's optional.
Mix in flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.
    Then mix in chocolate chips.

This is the fun part: spray hands with any non stick cooking spray.
Make even Tbs. Of cookie dough.
Cut square caramels in half and gently form dough around caramel.
Or if you like caramel a lot you can use whole piece of caramel.
Then I roll it into balls with palm of hand gently then place on cookie baking sheet.
    Bake for 12 minutes.
I have a lot of fun making these and you can substitute caramel for just about any candy
