| Additional Information | Sec. 3-47. Certain farm animals may be kept for educational purposes. Certain farm animals including rabbits, poultry, sheep, swine, goats, horses and cattle may be housed, pastured and fed within the city limits and the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the city for certain educational purposes. (Code 1976, § 3-41; Ord. No. 80-555, § 1, 3-25-80) Sec. 3-48. Eligibility to keep certain animals. In order to keep any of the farm animals listed in section 3-47 of this article for educational purposes, the person responsible for the care and feeding of the animal or animals shall be enrolled as a student in a vocational agriculture course sanctioned by the state education agency, and such animals must be maintained by the student as a vocational agriculture project the maintenance of which will affect that student\'s grade. (Code 1976, § 3-42; Ord. No. 80-555, § 2, 3-25-80) Sec. 3-49. Number of animals that may be kept. The number of animals that may be kept for educational purposes shall be limited as follows: (1) It shall be unlawful to maintain for educational purposes a total of more than four (4) adult swine and their immediate offspring, such offspring to be younger than adult age, within the city or its extraterritorial jurisdiction. (2) It shall be unlawful to maintain for educational purposes a total of more than four (4) adult sheep and their immediate offspring per acre or fraction thereof within the city or its extraterritorial jurisdiction. (3) It shall be unlawful to maintain for educational purposes a total of more than twenty-five (25) adult rabbits or poultry per acre or fraction thereof within the city or its extraterritorial jurisdiction. |
