It all started with a trip to the National Western Stock Show in January 2009. We happened to visit on the "Poultry" day and fell in love with the birds. We ordered our Murry McMurray catalog that week and started studying our future hobby. After researching breeds for several months, we settled on a variety of birds from Murdoch's (a feed and ranch supply store in Longmont). We purchased day old chicks: 2 dorkings, 2 buff brahmas, 2 buff orpingtons, and 2 silver laced wyandottes.
We have had a few mishaps along the way, but we finally hatched 9 new chicks in June 2010.
We have two coops, our main coop that is insulated for winter (adjacent to our barn), and the summer home which houses the younger members of our flock in the summer until it's time to introduce them to the resident flock.
