Here's my girls...(UPDATE: All of the girls are now laying eggs! Yay!)
Angel (Black Tailed White Japanese Bantam). Angel was killed by a hawk the morning of 2/5/10 while I was at work. I came home to find the aftermath. I'll miss her terribly and it breaks my heart every time I think of her and look at my other girls. Rest in Peace my sweet Angel. (5/25/09-2/5/10) (She started laying eggs for me at about 18 1/2 weeks of age. I've had Angel since she was 2 days old. She's the primadona hen of the group. She always has her chest out and her head held high. She recently had a tough bout with a Prolapsed Cloaca, but seems to have recovered fully...at least we hope.)
Penny (Ameraucana Bantam). She started laying eggs for me at about 21 1/2 weeks of age. I've had Penny since she was 2 days old. She's second in charge of the group. She loves to chase Dot around the yard when I let them out to play.
Buttercup (Red Cochin Bantam). She started laying the day after she turned 32 weeks old (late bloomer!). I've had Buttercup since she was 2 days old. She's the prissy hen of the group. She loves to complain when the others leave her behind, but then she'll finally run to catch up with them.
Dot (White Crested Black Polish Bantam). I found that Dot had died during the night on 8/3/10. There were no obvious causes for her death. I suspect she died of heart failure. My two others girls seem so lost without her because Dot was their leader. Rest in Peace my sweet Dot. (5/25/09-8/3/10) (She started laying at 28 weeks and 2 days. I've had Dot since she was 2 days old. Dot is the dominant hen of the group. She's also the crazy one. I call her the punk. She likes to come up and try to peck at my toes when I'm on the patio and not wearing shoes.
