Happy Hens.
These are some of my girls. I have a few more that aren't pictured because they won't stay still enough for me to take their pics, and the others are rescues and are in rough shape. When they're all better, I'll post their pics too :) This is our first flock, and we have had some of them for almost a year now. Right now, we have 30 chickens in our (ever growing) flock. I know that chickens are livestock, but mine are more like pets, that just happen to feed us :~) It didn't start out that way, but I realized that they each have their own personalities, and at times crazy streaks. If it wasn't for them loving Japanese Beetles, my garden wouldn't have made it last year. My strawberries didn't make it because my girls helped them selves to those ! I am so glad the Hubby talked me into this. I can't see our little country home with out our lovely ladies running around our yard. They even let our young Son and Daughter hold them. At least 1/2 of my flock came from fellow BYC members. This site has been invaluable to us, and I don't think we would have made it this far with out it ! So far we have: 3 Golden Comets, 3 White Leghorns, 4 EE's, 3 unknown breed mutts, 1 Blue Wyandotte/Marans cross, 2 Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Australorp, 2 Barred Plymouth Rocks, 1 Silkie, 1 Golden Laced Wyandotte Bantam, 1 Old English Game/Golden Laced Wyandotte Bantam, 1 Old English Game/Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, 3 Golden Laced Wyandotte chicks, and 3 Partridge Plymouth Rock chicks. We have 14 Marans Eggs and 9 Orpington eggs due to hatch any day now ! Hopefully we will have a good hatch on both

One of my lovely EE's, Falcon. I love her colors.

My Black Copper Marans, Brownie.

My Buff Orpington, Buttercup, stretching and sunbathing. The EE to her upper left is Blackie.

My one and only bantam, Peanut. Her father is a Golden Laced Wyandotte, and her mother is Silver Laced. She is an absolute sweetheart !

My late Silver Laced Wyandotte, Crackers. I miss her elegance in the flock.

One of my White Leghorns, Curlie.

One of my Golden Comets, Sugar. She loves cameras.

Another White Leghorn, Larry. Yes, we have a pullet named Larry.

My third White Leghorn, Moe.

Another of my Golden Comets, Honey. She acts more like a cat than a chicken !

This little lady is one of our Barred Plymouth Rocks, Tigger. Our son named her :)

This pretty lady is my Black Australorp, Beauty.

My third EE, Tikka.

My Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, Bullet.

A few of my girls wondering what I am doing.

A few of our eggs.

Some of our rainbow eggs.

My Marans/Wyandotte cross pullet, Blue. When she lays down, she looks like a puddle of chicken !

The flock leader, Big Mama. She is a Golden Comet, but has the body shape of the Buff Orpington behind her. Hmmmm....

This angel is Eva, our other Bared Plymouth Rock. Our daughter named her :)
