The Making of a Funny Farm
I can remember dreaming of having a farm when I was little. I loved any animal and wanted them all! Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to fulfill that dream...until now! After getting married my husband and I started filling up our 3.5 acres with animals. (One day I hope to have much more land for more animals but that will come with time!) Our mini-farm started with a horse and 2 miniature donkeys and then came the CHICKENS! I decided I just wanted "a few laying hens" so I could have fresh eggs. Then I found Backyard Chickens website and the obsession began! I bought some eggs to hatch in an old incubator borrowed from my in-laws. After that first hatch I was officially addicted! I only had one egg hatch but I was convinced to improve upon that. I quickly ended up with several more "fuzzy butts." We have also added a pair of call ducks. I now love all things poultry and the only problem I have is deciding what breed to add next!
