Two years ago I was begging my Mom and Dad for a pet, because my older siblings had goats and chickens and rabbits and a dog and a hamster. One Night we were at the dinner table when my sister asked my Dad a question. "Can we Please get a pet?" Being frustrated by the constant begging for dogs and cats and what not. "At least chickens!?" I begged. Dad flung up his arms. 'Yes! Yes! We can get Chickens!" He exasperatingly said. Our jaws hung open for a moment or two and then I popped another question. "You are not kidding are you?" Dad is sarcastic and serious all the time. Odd mix. That is how our Chicken keeping began. I then had never owned my own flock of chickens before and was not really into them. In May we picked up the little chicks. One Dozen. The little two speckled ones hung out together and the other creamy colored ones had their own group as well. As anyone would want to do I had the urge to hold them and touch them but mom said that we can't do that because they were so young and fragile. When they grew into pullets they began to lay eggs. Our first flock were terrible layers. Which in turn discouraged me because I felt that it was my fault. That I was doing something wrong; since I was the official chicken-lady from then forth.
A while later we sold six hens ~ that laid well~ to our neighbor to add to the money that went towards me buying new different breeds of chickens. I bought them and waited restlessly for them for months. In late-may finally had them all. Three Easter Egger's and two Guineas and One Cherry and One Cuckoo Ma ran. Booboo, Jaguar, Sparrow, Nuggets and Fingers, Cuckoo and Cherry. (Very original)
Sparrow died young due to coccidicous (spell check?) The other birds get along well with my earlier flock of birds and lay very well also. Here are some pictures.

Cherry is the sweetest on earth!<3

Jaguar is the most adventurous and is very hard to keep in the pen. Even with wings clipped she flies over and out but safely stays on the property and comes back every night.

The guineas are aggressive so we sold them to a friend in New Salem.

My sisters got ducks so we get additional eggs from them.

Our first flock was very happy:) So is our second!

Ginger is a happy addition to our family. Will be one year old soon and I am so happy that she gets along with MOST of our animals.
