I got Heny when she was about 10 months old. We found her on Craigslist for a reasonable price. Her history is unknown but the person who had her said that they were not sure on what breed she is. Heny came to us with her sister that we named Penny. The very first day we brought them to their new home Penny was attacked by one of my Toy Poodles! There was feathers scattered everywhere! Penny was hiding under the house and we were unable to get her out. We decided to let her come out on her own. That night we went out to put the chickens up for the day and we realized that Heny and Penny were missing! We went searching all over the place for them, but we had no luck. The next day we found Heny wandering around without her sister. We picked up Heny and put her in the coop and went looking for Penny. I found Penny's body right next to the chicken coop! She was found dead! We buried her in the woods. We were very sad. A couple of weeks later Heny went broody! We decided that we were going to give her chicks! We ended up driving all the way to Seattle to get the chicks.
We ended up with 2 rooster and 2 hens! We named them Quincy, George, Ella, and Ava. Heny loved the chicks to pieces! Heny took care of them very well. She taught them so many things! She loved them so much that she was still taking care of them when they were 3 months old! We had to wean them ourselves!
After she went broody she started to lay eggs! She laid up to 6 eggs a week! And she still does! Before we knew it she was on the top of the pecking order! She was always mean to the newbies! She was even mean to her own chicks! She was very vicious towards them! She acted like she had never seen them in her entire life! And finally one day while I was on BYC I found out what breed she is... She is a Blue Orpington! It turns out that she really likes me taking pictures of her! She is very photogenic!
I love Heny so much! I dont know what I would do without her! She is literally the best chicken EVER!
