Its been quite and adventure! From tiny babies to full grown chickens only a couple weeks away from laying their first eggs. I am not sure where I got the idea that I wanted to raise my own chickens, but it was similar to me just waking up one morning and deciding I wanted to have chickens. I remember going to the local feed store and picking out four itty bitty baby chicks, the most adorable fragile little things I had ever had in my possession. They will be turning 17 weeks this week, its hard to believe so much time has passed already! They are quite the handful of spoiled chickens but I love them to death :)

Ginger (Golden Sex link): She is by far the biggest, and most photogenic of all my chickens. I remember when I was picking chicks in the feed store, I chose her because she was chasing around the other chicks and I thought to myself "This one has spunk." She did not disappoint!

Peaches (Golden Sex Link) : She is perhaps one of the most layed back of my four hens.

But maybe not the most photogenic, she looks so surprised in this picture!

Clove (Ameraucana): Clove is the smallest of all my hens. When I picked her out in the feed store, I chose her because she was so tiny she was stuck head first in the chicken feeders! Poor darling needed my help and I came to the rescue!

Finally there is Pepper (Ameraucana): I'm not sure what it is about her, but she has always been really shy, and a bit scared on occasions. Not sure why, I gave her just as much attention as the others and they are very tame. I suppose that is just her personality. I still love her though! :)

All of my dears will be getting a new and improved coop here withing the next month and I am so very excited! They are spoiled, fat, and happy and I couldn't ask for anything more. Becoming a chicken owner is one of the best decisions I have ever made.
