We started with our own 'Urban Chickens' in July 2014. We have enjoyed the process or learning, building, harvesting eggs and their hilarious chicken behaviours. It has been a great addition to our large family. With four active boys, two dogs and now five chickens we are ensuring that our sons are well aware of the responsibilities of having pets and some livestock.

Scott followed the chickens everywhere for the first month.

Our first coop completed and ready for the girls.

Scott found the first egg, of course.

Charlie's angels are settling in.

Scott was the first to hand feed them.

Isaac loves his Cheeeeeckens

Perry hides in the shadows watching over his flock.

Scott thought that cole should see if he could fit in the coop then promptly locked him in.

Our backyard chickens in the backyard.

loves them.

Finished the new and permanent coop extension. Thanks backyard chicken members for the ideas. So now that the chickens have thatched the entire backyard it is time for them to enjoy their own space and let our yard mend a bit. Lots of space for them and we will continue to modify their roosts. We will let them out a little less regularly starting again in the spring.
