We're new to the chook game and picked up our girls just over a month ago.

They've quickly become much loved members of our family so it was a bit of a shock this morning when we woke to Mabel... crowing,

Mabel (Pekin Bantam) 16 weeks old. Now going by the name of Malcolm and currently seeking a shrink for the trans-gender abuse inflicted upon him by his parents.

Unfortunately we'll be saying goodbye to her/him tomorrow as the local council won't let us keep a rooster. I'm devastated... she's/he's been my favourite since we brought them home. I suggested selling the house and moving to the country in order to keep her/him but no one seemed keen.

Dot (Pekin Bantam) now believed to be Malcolm's girlfriend.
They've been inseparable since we brought them home. I guess now we know why.

I hope Dot's not too upset when we take Mabel back to the store.

Betty White (Silkie) the daftest of our girls and we love her to bits for it.

She's got us right where she wants us. Wrapped right around her extra talon.
We have to go out every night and put her to bed as she's still not worked out how to get back through the coop door (she just gets to the top of the ramp and sits down).

Lolly Chook our little princess and a Honey Boo Boo in the making.

She strives for world peace and beautifully bird brained... Just the way we love her. So glad we didn't install a mirror in the coop though... she'd have never come out to play if we had.
