My husband, John, built our house all by his self (I was 5 months out of back surgery) and since we had 8 dogs at the time, we needed a dog house. When we finished our house he immediately built this. It has the same foundation and rebar in the footings as our house. The dog house it self is 10' x 14'. It has electric and recessed lighting and is plumbed for water. We did only put a 8' ceiling

I don't they mind much. We find carpet remnants and put on the floor on the dog side and they have our old leather couch that they sleep on. On the chicken side there is press and stick linoleum tiles. When he built it, he had a small storage room that was about 5' x 3' in the back right for dry tools.

When we decided to get our chickens the dog house was already divided as we had our Moluccan Cockatoo out there.

First thing we did was get rid of the storage room wall so you would walk into back half, you can see the white door frame on the right side side towards the back. (The ramp is a doggie door) That nook area became a perfect place for the poop board, roost and the nesting boxes. We cut down a wooden saw horse just to help them. Who you are seeing is Forest. She has a fit when her poop board gets cleaned, she likes it "just so" and of course we keep moving the alfalfa around, drives her batty and she growls the whole time

The picture of the boxes was taken from outside the the door you see in the second picture. Now, when I stand inside at the door this is what you see.
We ended up putting another roosting bar, and again cut down a wooden saw horse, but haven't had the time to make another poop board. The 12" x 12" paver is where their water goes. The feeder in the center is for crumble food. In the corner on the right is for pellets and on the left is for oyster shells. We have hardware mesh across the window screen and about where the window opens too is a fan mounted on the wall that blows towards the roost. There is a water on the left end of the roost. In order to keep flies out, John put a heavy mil plastic that we use on the doggy door on the chicken door, but instead of leaving it solid, he cut it into strips. We have a couple girls that like to peck at the drywall so please don't look at their messy walls

If you go in the front door of the dog house this is what you see
No, Stormee isn't guarding the chickens, she is terrified of them LOL The section above her opens and we can go in and out through there to get eggs.
Hubby made their run with great access to clean it.
Both of top sections lift up so cleaning it out is a breeze, especially for him since he is 6'3". In the first picture you can see we tried to add a misting system to cool them down but, nope, they HATED it. We ended up buying red wood slates and placing them on the section over their door, skipping the section that lifts, and over the rest of the run body. As you can see it was getting to be bedtime when I took the pictures

Here is the rest of the house.
We love the fact it works for both the dogs and chickens. We are hoping to add to our flock this spring.

We got the time to add the poop board under the second perch yesterday.
