So I am addicted to chickens! I never thought I'd care about a chicken...seriously! Well I was wrong. The more time I spend with my chickens the more I love them!! And the more I want, and here's why...They are awesome. Chicken TV is better than real TV (which I don't have anyway, shocking I know).
Every one of my chickens has their own distinctive personality...like Lexi pictured below. One of my two Cream Legbar pullets, she is shy, timid, very fast, but also sneaky! When treat time comes she can dart in and out of the big hens grabbing treats on the fly and the big girls can't even keep up. Very entertaining!

Then we have our Twisty, the little Cream Legbar cockerel with spunk! Still think we should call him Napoleon! He is the fastest little guy too but a total social butterfly! He hangs out with everybody and though everyone is 3 times his size they all seem to like him! He runs my husband around the coop and run trying to catch him which is hilarious to watch, but I think it's a big game to him because once he's caught he could care less...he knows he's gonna get some treats and will readily sit in my lap and eat them up! He also starts crowing to greet me when I get home from work!! I use the term crow lightly as it still sounds a lot like a kazoo,

but he's getting better!
He even enjoyed his bath and blow dry time!!

Then we have my beautiful SFH pullet Freja...she is miss piggy and loves her treats, she is still timid but is coming around. She readily greets me when I get home and waits at the gait for me to come bring her food.

Then we have Thor MY SFH cockerel! He may not be everything a breeder is looking for but he's definitely everything I'm looking for. He (so far) is calm and friendly to all the girls, although he keeps trying to mount my two Heritage RIR's, Thelma and Louise. The don't want none of it yet though!! He puffs up when my husband first catches him but settles right down with me and with a little "hypnosis" he settles down for the hubby too! To me I think he's one of the most beautiful chickens I've seen and I love him!

@ 7 weeks

and now at 9 wks.
I just love seeing how much they change as they grow and all the distinct personalities they each have!! Well I guess I'll end it there and save some of the others for next time!! Thanks for looking at my chickens!

So the hubby and I both took some one on one chicken time this weekend to hang out with the kids. He was off mowing the lawn so no pics of me with them but I got some decent ones of him and them. Here's some of my favorites!

This one has several of our girls...
Freja the SFH pullet and Thor the SFH cockerel...bottom center
Left is our Black Star Hera who is finally coming around...I wasn't sure about her for a while but I think we are starting to earn her trust. Next to her is our Brahma Shirley and her sister Lavern in the rear. Lavern layed her first two eggs (for us anyway) this weekend.
Then there is Twisty the little legbar cockerel and Jazzy the legbar pullet. In the rear is Thelma and Louise, our Heritage RIR's.

I just love the purple and green sheen on our Black Star, Hera! Just beautiful!

Mr. Thor was being a camera hog!!!

Twisty and Jazzy! Gotta love that crest on Jazzy!

After lots of treats from Dad everyone had full bellies and needed a nap!!

UPDATE
Well some of the girls have started laying that brings us to 6 now...still waiting on Freja, Lexi, Jazzy, Thelma and Louise...but it won't be long now. I have a nice mixture of eggs in my egg basket and we have had a few new additions to the flock.

ABOVE: Everybody enjoying some fresh vitamin water! Yummy!

This is one of our new additions! Meet "Mookie"! She has the sweetest little face and is soo quick!

ABOVE: This is Ginger, with that gorgeous ginger head I think she'll be a real looker!

ABOVE: Though it's a crappy picture...in the middle you can see "Honey" To her right is Freja! They actually look a lot alike except Freja has a blue splash to her and Honey has a black.

Then here is little Raven! The big girls jumped her and almost killer her the first time we put her in with them but once she healed up she became a member of the flock! "Guess she got "Jumped In".

Now the little girls fit right in and it's one big happy family!

Also now we are going to be moving in the next couple weeks and have been building a new coop at the new place! I am loving it!

Just a couple pics! Not done yet. Still need to add all the "ammenities"!
