Pepper the Easter Egger had a rough start. She and her five siblings were bullied and couldn't come out of their cage, I tried to help but I could not watch all 5 chicks at the same time. So the poor chicks had to stay in a cage. I felt so bad for them! So I took them out one by one, but once they got out the would run.........feel bad for me I had to catch those little suckers! A few weeks later things went down hill from there. My flock got infected with a disease (I'm still not sure what disease yet) and it started with my Leghorn pullet (my favorite Leghorn girl).

She died and then it was Blossom an Easter Egger chick. She was my first favorite chick and I cried over her! I was hoping that was the last! The couple days following we lost Lacie; the prettiest Easter Egger. After a little while, I though it was all over! Until another died, It was Brooklyn. We had not been suprised! We then lost Goldie the Easter Egger cockerel a couple weeks after.

At the time Pepper really didn't have a name. I was afraid that she was next! But as time went by she got stronger. I would let her out and play with her; yes you heard right I play with her! I also give her big juicy bug when I find them. She then got her name by trying to eat Peppers while I was picking them. I do all that to to keep her happy and company! I was her only friend! The other old rooster doesn't like her and every time I would get her out of her cage and he would attack me trying to get to her! He would also attack her when she stuck her head out of the cage, so I made her a makeshift pin. A couple weeks later I moved the cage outside of the coop. I would let her out each day, so she could stretch her wings. I started noticing that she wouldn't leave my side! I would walk away and she would make a distress call. I guess she thinks I'm her mommy

?

She also likes to hide her head in my hair lol. I say she is snuggling because she does it every time you pick her up. We finally got to build her a chicken coop and she hates it! She wants to out with us instead of pinned up

It's not only me that loves Pepper! My whole family love Pepper too! We consider her as a pet. We are not planning on culling her when she hits her prime laying years, we plan on keeping her around. She has stole my mom's, dad's, sisters', and friend's hearts! We all love and enjoy her!

She is my baby! She is my spoiled rotten baby and will always will be!!

(in that pic she was inside the house because it was really cold outside)
