I my daily search on Craigslist for chicken "stuff" I ran across this building that was for sale and I had to have it. I believe it was built for the use of drying out popcorn and so far has worked perfect for my girls. In the summer I remove the plywood on the inside and there is a lot of shaded venitlation for the chickens and in the winter we insulate the walls with plywood and straw. I built a nesting box and also put a roof over the feeder and raised water dish to keep them from making too big of a mess. There is a small run out back and we let them out about 1 hour before dark everyday for some free range grub. I currently have 1 goldstar, 1 silver laced wyonndotte and 4 americaunas and am getting 3-4 eggs per day. I have an extension cord running to the coop which is on a switched out let that I can turn the lights on and off from the house. No heat needed, a nice deep layer of straw and no wind and the girls are plenty happy.
