We named it The Perch. My husband is a carpenter and between the two of us reading tons of articles and knowing what we wanted for our flock, built this amazing home for our Birds.
Pvc is watering system. We set it up so we can water from outside of run, it fills up a tube inside their coop and then under it. I waited until out water line was very low, went inside the coop the open end cap of that tube and it still had 2-3 gallons of water in it. This system will be tricky in winter as we had a few freezes and the nipples leaked and created ice inside coop. Prob will use a heated bucket for winer.
I will also Add since we made our coop moveable (i give my husband 3 or 4 more times of moving that beast before we leave it in one spot) so i have installed a hardwire cloth apron around the base for diggers. I have not seen any signs of diggers yet..
Last but not least I am not happy about the door slide. I have to go into the run every night and clean out the track so door sets down in track. The girls do a good job of getting pine shavings and straw in there and the door wont shut completely. #firsttimeflockowners #learningaswego
