Cozy Yellow Chicken Coop!!

This is a really nice coop - and the pictures are good ... but with the title, I was expecting an awesome meringue recipe! :D :( :D
Beautiful looking coop...wish we could see some step-by-step photos & description on how it was built.

Love the title change. I, too, thought it was going to be about pie earlier today before I had a chance to take a look and read. LOL

I love the pictures! Great quality and large enough and close enough to really see what's going on. Love that your hen made it in the pic and the eggs! Exciting!

I'm currently planning my first coop and run and mine will be very similar to yours so I'm looking closely at your pics for details and tips and tricks. My starting point is a playhouse about the same size as your coop that my dad built for my niece 20 years ago and amazingly it is still in tip top shape. I plan to build my run the same height as the coop, off the right side, and with a "real" roof like you did. Th spot I've picked for mine is also nestled in the edge of the woods right off my backyard "people" area and I have planned a little path too it.

I would love to see a few more pics of the inside in order to see the nesting boxes (from inside) and the roost, etc. I think I'm planning to put my nesting boxes and access inside the coop because of my intense fear of predators in the country, but I like the simplicity of your setup. I might be able to do the same setup, but have it located off the coop side that is inside the run area. I might feel a little better about the predator access. (They can have the eggs. It is getting inside the coop to my chickens that scares me.) Does your nesting box lid lock? I've been reading that raccoons can easily open doors and such and even open many latch styles with no problem.

Good job. I know you are proud! It is beautiful.

Four stars for building such a cozy and sturdy coop for your chickens. Respect!
One star as credit for future improvements: We all would love to learn more how you built the coop, more pictures of the insides, what material was used, what kind of protection against was implemented.
