Just putting the finishing touches on a 8X12 coop that I have put together. The bottom plates are pressure treated as they are sitting directly on the ground. The ground is hard clay which is very hard digging so I am not to concerned about predators digging under. Just in case I leveled solid concrete blocks all around the base. The mesh I used was new but purchased from a former mink farm that they used for making cages, It is about 1/2x1/2 heavy guage galvanized. I prefabed all the walls with mesh in my garage and then put it all together in its current location. Mesh runs from ground to top plate and I used pressure treated lattace work for protection from the predators from above, but changed it to mesh as well. Coop sits 2 ft off of the ground and is fenced under so they have some shady areas to scratch around. I will post pictures as soon as I can.
