Dead Hen

  1. cortneyh
The flock had been out roaming around the yard as they do usually. They'd been out all day, and for the past couple of days I'd noticed one of the hens was astray from the flock quite often. It was unusal behavior for her. I came home to discover she was dead. There were no signs of any wounds. I don't know if she was sick, or if she got to hot. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I really hope it does help. But like earlybird said, you might should post on the forums. Someone else may have even better help, especially if any of your other birds start showing symptoms other than dehydration.

Thanks for the help. I'll get them some of the vitamin mix to see if that helps any.

I would post this on the forums. She may have been sick, dehydrated, eggbound, ect.

I'm sorry you lost your hen. Is it possible that she may have dehydrated? My chickens have all been panting their hearts out in this heat. I lost a handful of chicks before I found out about an electrolyte/vitamin mix that you can get for them. You just mix it up in water. I give it to all of my chickens (and even my rabbits) daily in fresh water.
Really hope you don't lose anymore of your flock!
