We got started last year after researching coops on this site. We ended up converting a 2.5' x 3' dog house into a coop for our 2 Rhode Island Reds and 1 Golden comet.
This year we decided to expand by getting 2 day old light brahma chicks and that meant back to the drawing board......and building a bigger coop (4' x 4') and adding an additional 20 square feet to the run.
The new coop holds the 3 year old birds and our old coop is our "temporary" coop for the 2 light Brahmas until they are old enough (4-5 months)to join the rest of the flock.
