Hi! I'm new to this. We have 6 Rhode Island Reds. One of them layed their first egg 3 days ago. None of them, including that one, have layed since. Is this normal? HELP!

Glad it helped. The more time you spend with them the more you will learn their habits, pecking order, and personalities. You can use color coded zip ties around their ankles to tell them apart if you name them and they become your babies. :) Good luck! A 40 foot run is great for 6 of them. :)

I have noticed they have been squatting. We are kind of in the middle of nowhere, so we built the chickens a 40 foot run, so no free ranging. They are all the same age. This helped a lot! Thank you so much!

We have 10 RIR and they started laying about a month ago. Do your other ones squat when you come up to pet them? They will squat with their wings up and almost go into a freeze position.... If they all are doing this it is a sign they will be laying soon. Our RIR's lay daily to a few laying every other or so... 3 days if one is a bit more mature isn't something to worry about in my opinion. Some other variables to consider: 1) Do you let them free range? If so they may be laying elsewhere and 2) Are they all the same age? 3) Ours were born the same time but there was at least a week between them before they all started laying. Hope this helps! :) And congrats on your first egg!
