Well, I've never built a thing in my whole life. I'm a pianist and I'm in marketing...never had need for a drill or saw.

However, once my baby chicks started to turn into teenagers (it's so fast!) I hustled outside and put this together. I'm feeling good about it. Hopefully my girls will feel the same way. :) And...hopefully all of the really truly talented carpenters out there aren't cringing at the design.

Paint and roofing go up later this week. Then it's done! Oh yes...it has a name... Downton Abbey. :)

Did you follow some plans or just "wing" it? We have NEVER built a thing ever, but have all the tools. Same thing, chicks are growing fast and need something bigger than their Cardboard Condo very soon.

Thank you crazyfeathers! :) I did not do poop trays, but with this design, I'll be able to sweep it all out one side with one big swoop of a rake. Space was challenging on the side of the house.

But the girls are in it now!

Well for a pianist you did a great job! Looks like you have ventilation, poop trays, and nesting boxes I think that covers the important items. I think it's very nce, can't wait to see it painted up!
