First chicken raising try

  1. Jadaprice
This is our first endeavor with raising chickens. We have 11 hens and one young rooster. We were not really sure what we wanted so we did a little research and spoke with a lot of folks who have them. We ended up getting Splash and Blue Marans, Rhode Island Reds, Light Brahmas and a Speckled Sussex.

Our two labs are very curious but so far have kept their distance. LOL

My first time to have chicken, too. Bought banded ones from Atwoods. Have no clue what they are. LOL 4 whites - might be white leghorns. 5 beautiful brown flecked with gold and 2 black & white. Then had to have a rooster. Got him from a friend and he is so beautiful - but again I have a couple of might be's. Welsumer or partridge leghorn? Anyway, I am enjoying them. I also have 7 guineas but think I will get rid of them. They are a pain. :)
