Blue Dirt is my blog. Feel free to check it out.
All about our little farm, big farm, food preservation, cooking, cleaning, crafting, and otherwise making everything you can with what you have!
We've had chickens for 3 years now (2011) and we're getting the hang of it pretty good now. There's still a few bumps in the road, but it's getting to be a nice easy routine around here.
Right now we have a mix of breeds including Dominiques, New Hampshire Reds, Ameraucanas, Australorps, Cuckoo Marans, and buff Chanteclers. They are all from a hatchery, and we are looking forward to getting some real buckeyes next year! Along with some ducks.
Our first pink egg! I don't even know what kind of chicken lays pink.
Our chicken tractor was converted into a duck mobile! We're going to keep a muscovy with some ducklings to make sure we're used to ducks before getting some more cayuga and runners.
This will eventually be our egg mobile. The barn needs replacing/restoring so we'll fix this up for the ladies when we're ready.
Wyatt is our main man. He's a dominique and likes to drive old tractors that my husband has made into a forklift.
