HAUTE CHIXS on the RIVER
What began as a new hobby for me has now become an obsession. I have not had chickens in nearly 35 years and thought that if I ever moved to the country again I would have a few. I moved from Houston to the beautiful Hill Country almost three years ago and thought it was about time to get those chickens. My plan was to have about 8 laying hens total. I now have 26 pullets from 2 weeks to 11 weeks old. I have built them a small coop attached to a 6 x 9 x 6' tall chicken yard/kennel.
My next projects are to, 1) to expand their hen yard, and 2) build a tractor so I can move them around the yard. The thought of having to cull any is unpleasant. I love everyone of them and want even more.
The girls are Rhode Island Reds, Ameracanas, Plymouth Barred Rock, Australorps, Iowa Blues, Silver Laced Wyandottes, Bantams unknown, Sultans and Silkies. I also have 4 unknowns that look similar to the Ameracanas but their feet or not blue/green, they are yellow and do not have ear muffs or beards.

I plan to post pictures of the girls and their coop soon, so check back for updates. Thanks, Linda, the rivergypsy
