Note ordinances are changing due urban sprawl and tax revenue generation (housing-condo's or apartments, retail and business development) for Henrico West they've restricted roosters or denied chickens rezoning. Ensure document livestock prior existence on land prior development encroachment to apply state legislation grand-father clause they stay. Warning any livestock leaves property a set time frame means lose toward re-zone status from keeping them. Many surrounding counties noticing fast urban growth and random attacks on livestock (shootings & etc). This is rapidly common small farms decline as most see these operations blocking new employment opportunities. Past 30 years area West End Richmond through West Henrico and beyond county line into Goochland county lose hundred of acres yearly. One must keep tabs new zone applications and county development 4 years ago could have chickens now not the case.

As small agriculture fall towards shopping malls, strip shopping stores, restaurants franchises, storage facilities, office space and commercial complexes or mega stores; about 1,800 acres lost in less 15 years. Every county is hungry for more revenue due recession and state as well.
