We've been raising chickens for about 4 years, it started out as a hobby with six chicks, now we have 40+ Golden Buffs. We buy them treated and their beaks snipped to reduce harassment among the new comers and the established "pecking order". Only problme is cannabalism; we lose 3 to 5 eggs a day although we gather the eggs 3 times a day, late morning, afternoon, and early evening before we return them to the coop to overnight in safety. I'm retired and can spend the required time tending to their needs and pampering them. A container of oyster shells has been added to the roost, as well as mixing calcium in their daily feed, but there seems to be no let up in egg being eaten. Any suggestions??
