I think an insulated coop is good for the winter. A light and water heater helps too and a food trough inside lowers the risk of frostbite. An automatic coop door is easy to maintain and saves the troubles of closing the door as well! A big door on the side with the laying boxes to the left so you can grab the eggs easier. And a window with chicken wire in front to keep out predators and they have natural light and it magnifies heat as well.
