Blue Eggs!

We bought two new birds on October 3rd, 2013!
INTRODUCING:
Lady Polly Pouf ~and~ Eileen Daisy Eagle
Crested -and- Non-crested Legbars from New Hampshire!

Aren't they darling? I love the "wild/camouflage" coloring.
After much research and hunting all over the state and beyond for pullets,
(Not an easy task when looking for a select few breeds -
my interest was in Welsummers, Barnevelders, & Legbars -
-but at this point we aren't too keen on the idea of super dark or speckled eggs, so Legbars were the preferred choice!
A newer/rare-ish type, I feel lucky to have them delivered.)
I found some babies instead - a better age for getting used to us handling them.

Below is a photo of them in my lap. I put a brown towel down, and they were dustbathing in it as if it was a patch of dirt!

1st visit to our backyard:

"That's not Momma!!?!"

Penny calmly and without a word preened herself for 20 minutes next to them while they dustbathed.

So far, so good! We'll see how it goes - we're not letting them have sleepovers just yet....

October 18th/19th/20th

Peacefully lounging under the burning bush together.

1st night, bottom bar - 2nd night, middle bar ....

3rd night ... all together!

Sharing the food & water dishes ^.^

I'm falling hard for this little girl - Polly is super sweet and a snuggler too!
