Additional InformationPet, household means an animal, including, but not limited to a dog; a domestic cat; a rodent such as a guinea pig, a hamster, a gerbil, a domestic rat, or a domestic mouse; a domesticated but not a wild ferret; a lagomorph such as a rabbit; a fowl; a fish; or a reptile; kept as subordinate to residential use for the purpose of providing human companionship. Poultry, hoofed animals of any type, with the sole exception of bona fide purebred miniature Vietnamese potbellied pigs which are kept for the sole purpose of providing human companionship and which are in compliance with all applicable provisions of Chapter 462, Part 6, predatory animals such as lions, tigers, ocelots, pumas, and the like, or animals which are normally raised to provide food for people shall not be considered household pets. For the sake of protecting the public\'s health and safety, wolf hybrids and raccoons, bats, foxes, skunks, and other known, or potential, rabies vectors which cannot be immunized against rabies, shall not be allowed as household pets under this Section and shall not be kept, sold, traded, or given as household pets by any pet shop or by any citizen. Poultry means fowl normally raised as food for consumption or used to raise food for consumption Sec. 462.902. Poultry houses. No person shall keep in any commercial district, as defined by the City\'s zoning code, any poultry on the lower floor of any premises used as a residence overhead. Commercial poultry houses shall keep all poultry at all times indoors and shall remove all offal and refuse and clean all battery pens at least once each day. The floors of commercial poultry houses shall be kept clean at all times, and the walls and ceilings shall be painted annually with light-colored, water-based paint. Sawdust shall be used only in the immediate vicinity of the meat block and dressing tables of poultry houses, markets and food stores. When used, sawdust shall be disposed of in a sanitary manner and shall be replaced with clean sawdust at least twice weekly. (Ord. 2004-259-E, § 1) Sec. 462.903. Use of exhaust fans. No exhaust from a fan or other similar device may be directed to flow towards any residence from any area in which poultry or livestock is kept. Exhaust fans in areas for keeping poultry or livestock shall emit exhaust only through a stack that is constructed in accordance with the City\'s building code and with the approval of the Building Inspection Division. The outlet from such stack shall be no less than 15 feet higher than the highest building or residence located within a radius of 300 feet from the area in any direction. (Ord. 2004-259-E, § 1) (3) A shelter shall be provided for any poultry, which shall be located not less than 50 feet from any property line. Poultry shall be permitted in the AGR and RR Districts only.
