I am new to raising chickens, well not really but now I have my own small flock of 5 red star hens. They are very sweet and each one has it's own unique personality, very friendly and eat like a bird, :). I have had them for two weeks and were told they were 24 weeks. I believe they around 14 so I should be seeing eggs before too long. Just an update, no eggs still after 3 weeks. Their combs are darker red, maybe soon? UPDATE!!! I have eggs, my girls molted before they could lay but now I am getting about two eggs per day. Three have not finished molting but two are laying now. The one girl I call Josie is a monster laying jumbo eggs anywhere from 2.5 ounces up to 3.2 ounces just over over 91 grams. Im happy and will start building a little bigger coop for them this week!were
