I have 3 hens, 1 RI red, 1 ISA red, and the other looks like a barred rock/RI red cross, none of these hens crow or have spurs, however the barred rock has a larger comb and wattles, and is taller and skinnier than the other two. today I saw said "hen" mounting one of the other chickens, all of the books I have read suggest that to be a rooster, there must be crowing and spurs involved (these hens are almost to laying age) I am suspicious that the larger, barred rock is a rooster, but due to lack of crowing and spurs I am not sure. any suggestions?
