I LOVE my chickens! I have wanted chickens since I was a teenager..and now, at the ripe old age of 37 and in the heat of the AZ desert...I have 6 chickens!
When I bought my chicks I got a straight run hoping upon hope that all 6 would be hens. Well, 3 months later, I am quite certain that 3 are hens and 3 are roosters. The crowing, if you can call it crowing[IMG], has already started. I would love to keep them all but I am afraid that the fighting will begin as the grow older and the poor hens will have a run for their money! I wonder if even one rooster for 3 hens is too much. My grandma who grew up on a farm said "the rooster will run those hens ragged!" What to do! I can't stomach the thought of eating them although I am certain that someone will. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do with your roosters??
