Classic Heritage Poultry is a small farm that specializes in heritage Chickens and geese
I have been raising Black Giants for over 25yrs. My first giants come from a hatchey in Iowa.
After going to my first poultry show I decided that I neede better birds. I was instroduced to the giant queen, "Golda Miller" of Kansas. Past 25yrs have flown by(no pun intended) you can view my accomplishments under "awards"on home page. My giants lay well in hot or cold weather. With proper care and feeding are 11-12 lbs. Pullets are 8-9 lbs. and old males are 12-13 and the hens are 9-10 lbs.
In 2000 New Hampshire Bantams caught my eye. I bought my first trio from"Carl Srow" from Central Ohio. When I was a kid my Mom and sister raised commercial New Hampshire and in 1970 at the age of 6 my sister went to Germany and it was my job to help with the birds. My New Hampshires are better looking from commercial breeds, very pretty birds to the standard. I've had numerous champions of the years with the 4H kids I've helped.
In 2006 I've always loved geese but couldn't find any I liked. My first choice was Embdens. I looked long and hard. If your goinf to raise geese, raise great ones. I can't disclose where they came from, but the are great champions! My Embdens are extremely good layers and setters and foyegers. Adult ganders weigh 24-26 lbs. Adult goose 18-20 lbs. Lots of feed and room are required.
2010 to help save the buckeyes and to get a friend started in poultry I called Laura Haggerty from KY and got some eggs and hatched 12 beautiful pullets. My firend did very well at the county fair and at the Ohio Nationals this past Nov. Great layers and very cold hardy.
