    Additional InformationOrdinance 4-1 states restrictions on other animals, however chickens are not mentioned at all. After contacting the city clerk, I was told that chickens are not prohibited in the city limits, there is no maximum number allowed, but it could be determined to be a nuisance if there were too many and neighbors complained. I have kept 13 chickens in down-town Kalispell for the last 3 years.

    Since I live in the Kalispell area I looked up the rules to keeping chickens in the city limits. The rules may have changed since this was posted.

    This is what I found.

    The number of chickens authorized per permit shall comply with the following, subject to all other standards in this Article:

    a. For the first three thousand (3,000) square feet of any residential parcel, up to four (4) chickens;

    b. For each additional one thousand (1,000) square feet of any residential parcel, one additional hen up to a maximum of fifteen (15)
