We have a mixed family of chickens here at Calamity Acres in Kansas. We have some standard breeds which right now are respresented by a few purebreds (Wyandottes, a Polish Hen, and some production reds and a black. We have many, many bantams, and most are descendents of our original Japanese bantams crossed with our old Wyandotte hens. This year we acquired some buff brahma bantams, some blue silky bantams, and some other assorted bantam chicks that are coming along nicely. We also got some Welsummers (looks like 3 pullets and a cockerel) and some partridge Plymouth Rocks. This will be our first experience with both. We have three tiny porcelain D'Uccle chicks and are hoping one is a cockerel, to go with our big pullet bought last September.
    We're building our third henhouse!
