Laying Eggs

Our 25 Golden Laced Wyandottes are now 24 weeks old. They started laying right at 20 weeks which was just in time for the county fair! My 12 year old figured out how to handle the girls just right and won a 3rd place ribbon in showmanship. The judge also told us we have very nice birds! She won a state fair trip with one of the pairs - so, I guess we had success! We are currently getting 12 to 14 eggs a day. We have a couple mischievous girls who venture out of our fenced area into the composte heap (to tunnel & lay 7 eggs and one nest we found in the raspberry bushes with 17 eggs!) I have also been surprised with how vocal they are so we continue to try to figure out what all of the sounds are. I am hoping they are all "normal" as haunting as they can sound. All in all the process has been very interesting but now we must figure out what to do as we really don't have space for all 25 this winter. Oh what's a girl to do?????
