Country Livin' in Graham
Okay, so it's more like suburban livin', but it seems like country to us! After years in the city surrounded by thumping cars, gang graffiti, and random acts of stupidity, we've finally escaped to Graham, Washington. Sure, we'd like 15 acres in the middle of nowhere... but for now, a half acre in a wooded neighborhood will have to do.
Here's a shot of our back yard. We feel bad for all the neighbors with manicured yards
& have no plans to cut down any trees or clear out any native plants!
The absolute best part, though, is that we finally live somewhere I can have my chickens! My grandparents always had chickens when I was growing up, and I've wanted my own for decades.
I am now the proud keeper of 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Black Australorps, and 2 Buff Orpingtons. Like all the other chicken-obsessed folks here, I continue to research different breeds & make plans to expand my flock next year. So far, though, my buff girls are my favorite, hands down! Here are some pics of the girls growing up and their coop.
Looking like little hens already!
