My daughter (10 yrs) and I are new to chickens but we are trying to learn as much as possible, it has been an exciting journey so far......

My daughter hatched these chicks in her class room this spring and whom ever wanted to bring chicks home could with their parents permission of course...... so I gave in and let her bring home 7... as it turned out we ended up with 3 roosters and 4 hens.... we have found new homes for 2 of the roosters and are now down to a small flock of 5...... the boy that brought the eggs into the classroom to hatch said they are Red Sex Link chickens but I am unsure if he is correct...... either way we are enjoying them and look forward to our first egg.

these are our first eggs.... one was frozen because it must have stayed outside in the coop all night long. We weren't expecting eggs but the other wasn't frozen and since November 20th we have got 8 eggs from one of our chickens.......

I wouldn't be sorry that they aren't all the same breed. I purposely choose different breeds for visual interest. Glad you like your new pets. They are sweet, as I can see from the photos of your daughter holding the birds.

    They are all so cute.

Sorry to say but they are not all of the same breed. the roo looks like a golden laced Wyandotte. One looks like a brahmah and another looks like a Dixie. but beautiful birds.

Beautiful flock! I think some of the hens are sex links, but the rooster looks like a Golden laced Wyandotte.

I, too, and thinking not all of them are Red Sex Links, but I am no authority. The point is they are beautiful, they are yours, and your daughter obviously loves them! Congratulations on being chosen!
