We bought our Mottled Houdans as a pair (two females) in February. One, a very robust sassy hen, we named Miss Otis after the jazz song written by Cole Porter. The other we named Adele, after Adele :) For a while in the late winter months and early, colder Spring months we got almost no eggs but suddenly, about 4 weeks ago a huge bucket of eggs was revealed at the top of the coop full of eggs. So that's where they've been! ;) Unfortunately, about a week ago we lost Miss Otis. She was on the floor of the coop. We aren't sure if it was age or she was sick... but we greatly mourn our loss of a sassy, large lady.
