My First Attempt At Chickens

    I am trying my hand at white leghorns..I have my brooder built and just waiting on my delivery from the hatchery .... any advice woxuld be greatly appreciated...

    hold your chicks as much as possible if you want them to be docile... white leghorns aren't naturally gentle. still, they're very sweet.

    Hold each one daily- so they know you and aren't afraid later or mean and pecking you as adults. Avoid quick hand movements in the brooder and have a soft voice. After week one I started adding Bragg's Organic apple cider vinegar to their water. 1 capful to one gallon of water. Good for their digestive track. Keep their vents clean (avoid pasty butt). Week two I started adding grass clippings and meal worms for treats to their diet. Best entertainment is watching them chase eachother over an earthworm. Chick tug of war is a hoot. Keep them fed, clean, loved...your going to enjoy it so much. We've had our first chicks for two weeks. This is what we know so far.
