I have 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Black Sex Links and 2 Buff Orpingtons. They are coming up on one year old this Summer. We got them as chicks from Wilco Farm Store. I have enjoyed taking care of and raising them.

Our reds are very friendly, loud and good egg layers. Our BSL are aggressive, a little mean, loud and good layers. Our orpington's (my golden girls) are very large, mild-mannered, quiet and ok layers. I love my golden girls!

I really love all my girls and enjoy watching them run around (our dog loves to watch them as well). My kids love to hold them and have learned to be gentle with them and careful around them.

We got our first egg from our BSL when she was about 6 months old! All three breeds lay the same color eggs. We get odd shaped eggs sometimes and one of our orpington lays giant eggs, double yokers. :)
Our girls love apples, lettuce greens and sweet peppers. We haven't gave them watermelon yet but I look forward to this Summer! I'm sure they will love it!

This is my favorite picture of my daughter (age 3) holding one of our golden girls! :)

We just got some new additions to our flock! We have 3 Americana chicks and 1 Buff Polish Crested chick. We are looking forward to blue and green eggs from the Americana's! As well as the puffy feathers of the Polish Crested hen.

We also got our first ever duck!

He is a Cayuga Duck. He is the sweetest thing! We wanted a female duck to try the eggs. But I wouldn't trade him for the world! :)

Well, this has been my chicken journey so far. I'll post more about my new flock another time. :)
Blessings!
