Our first 2 Chickens were found on Craigslist, a lady in Auburn who purchased the 2 last chicks who had grown up in a cage at Echo Valley Feed, 4 mos old, they happened to be Sicilian Buttercups which is what my husband loved and wanted to show.
Then we got a Light Sussex and Barnevelder what we thought to be 2 hens from an awesome gal in Colfax. We also got 4 ameracauna chicks from her.
We got 1 barnevelder chick and 7 Light Sussex from a guy in Lincoln. Found out we wanted to switch to raising Splash Laced Red Wyandoote cause they lay a nice big med brown egg and they are good mothers. Therefore we wont have to get an incubator. So we traded Light Sussex for Wyandotte, turns out We ended up with 1 ameracauna rooster, Light Susex Rooster and a barevelder Rooster. We rehomed 2 and our Light Sussex we are going to keep around for a while until the Wyandottes get a little older and learn to watch out for the flock. They were born in September so are only 5 mos old.
