Edited 3-23-22 with details.
Here's the coop my DH and I designed and built for our new flock of 5.
I decided on a raised coop after researching many YT's and articles (which led me here to BYC) We scoped all of our scrap pile for supplies as the price of lumber was just starting to creep up there. I opted for a raised coop to increase the run size, shelter them from elements, and I wanted to crawl in not bend down to clean. My hubby had been wanting to put up privacy fence panels to replace chain link so we designed coop to be backed up to fence and that combined our efforts.
We set out to build fence using 4x4 post so we could utilize those for coop supports also.

We kept chain link fencing up on part of run to attach chicken wire (and later on HC) to . The coop was 4' wide by 8' long by 4' tall. That used every bit of scrap 4x8 sheets of plywood we had.We also had 2 left over 6 pane windows with a few broken panels that I used as doors hung by piano hinges.
We started coop by setting foundation supports 24" off ground on N & W fence sides. Supports were made out of 2x12 boards on end (ledgers) attached to 4x4 posts of fence and one 4 x4 leg on cement paver type block on SE corner. We made a 4' x 8' framed floor out of 2x4s 16" on center, and attached that to the ledger boards. He covered framing with 9/16" plywood then lino.(remnant we bought at carpet store for $50.00).
Next came walls we saved $ by backing 2 sides to fencing on N &W walls after covering with roof felt then moisture barrier.

We framed the S&E walls with 2x4s 16" on center covered with plywood then T 1-11? siding.
For roof we made a framing out of 2x4s 24" on center 5'6" x 8' 3" covered by sheeting then barn metal . Roof was slanted by 4" higher in back for runoff. Gutter on low side leads to downspout that feeds into a water receptacle mounted with 2 horizontal nipples on it.
We also put in pop door and 2 ea. 12"x12" x 12" nest boxes with top lids.We attached a rope to pop door that we thread through pulleys to be able to open from outside run.
I wished I would have taken pictures of framing and stages of build sorry.

Some features we added were gravity fed 4"PVC feeder on outside and one to inside , also 2 small tubes for grit and oyster shell. We ran electricity to coop. We also divided coop by chicken wire down middle of coop so back side 3'x4' could be used for storage. We added a screen door to storage side so there can be plenty of ventilation in 3 seasons. This view is looking into coop that is 5' x 4' from storage side. ( this was tiny roost when they were still chicks)

We now have a 4' roost. We added a night light on timer on storage side to entice them to roost when young. We have feral cats so run 8x16 is covered and secured with 4' chain link gate and chained shut. We also buried a foot of cw in ground before taking cw upward. To keep out wild birds we put an apron of hc around base.

Things I'd change:
1. No roof water collection. (water gets GROSS and scummy even with screens)
2. Made overhang on east bigger. ( it's only 3 inches)
3. I've added poop box under their roost.
4. Would cut out soffit for more ventilation.
5. Would add more natural light (window) to S side of coop.
6. I would use drop down doors on nest boxes.
7. I added stock tank heater to outside waterer last winter to keep it from freezing. Worked great.
8. We come up with a way to have heated inside water in coop, with a PVC closed loop system using a camping 6 gallon jug reservoir ( on storage side) that's fed via pump and warmed with aquarium heater in cold months. Works great.

10. After catching feral cats using run supports as a " cat walk" we came up with a cheap way to deter that activity . We place carpet tack strip on 2x4s . NO CATS NOW!
